I saw another dollar menu at McDonalds commercial; one part in the war for dollar menu supremacy. (Remember the Big Mac/Whopper/Jumbo Jack wars of the early 90's) Although there were always these commercials, I've noticed a lot more advertising for for their 99 cent menus. There's definitely a parallel here, between the new emphasis on cheap food, our lagging economy and consumer confidence being low. People are cutting back their spending, and fast food is an easy, albeit disgustingly unhealthy, way to do that.
