Obama more conservative than Republicans?

Someone brought up a good point to me yesterday. She is a conservative as well, but she pointed out that by not fighting so many wars, Obama will spend less money because our national defense spending won't be as high, so his social programs will not outweigh the money that he has saved from "national defense," and I use quotes because there's not much defense about it, it's mostly offense. This point has pretty much turned me to Barack Obama, because Hillary Clinton would be another Neo-Con, like her husband before her.
